The Fit Stick Bike Fitting Tool enables you to quickly and accurately take multiple measurements of a bike set-up for documentation or to transfer to another bike.

Description

The Fit Stick Bike Fitting Tool is the swiss army knife, one-stop-shop device required to accurately take multiple measurements of a bike set-up for documentation or to transfer to another bike.  Designed for avid bike fitters, this tool is equally useful for cycling enthusiasts with a fleet of bicycles.

Not to be confused with the original and unavailable “Fit Stik”, this is a new generation tool that was refined over a 12-month development and testing process, and is hailed as a “must-have” tool by bike fitters, retailers, and industry professionals who were invited to comment during the product development process.

Benefits

  • Quickly and accurately take multiple measurements:
    • Saddle Height, from either the bottom bracket or pedal spindle  (all versions)
    • Saddle to handlebar or aero pad drop (Fit Stick #2 and #3)
    • Seat tube angle and other angles (Fit Stick #3)
  • Eliminate the need for multiple tools required for bike measurement or bike fitting
  • Replicate fit from one bike to another
  • Identify key measurements & angles to document the precision and accuracy required for the best possible bike fit.

Features & Options

Please note there are 3 versions available, which offer different modules and measurement options.

Fit Stick #1 — Saddle Height Only

  • Saddle height 2 ways: from the bottom bracket or the pedal spindle (see details below)
  • Maximum saddle height measure = 1080 mm

Fit Stick #2 — Saddle Height + Drop Caliper

  • All the saddle height options of #1 and
  • Saddle to handlebar or aero pad drop (with the included drop caliper add-on).
    • The standard drop will measure depth on a scale from 0 – 150mm.
    • An optional longer drop scale is available that reads from 0 – 250mm

Fit Stick #3 — Saddle Height + Drop Caliper + Digital Angle Finder

  • All the saddle height and drop caliper options of #1 and #2 and
  • Saddle nose (or rear) to bar center, hood trough, aero pads, or aero extensions
  • Seat tube angle and other angles (with the included digital angle gauge add-on)
  • The digital angle finder snaps into the level and can be slid along the level if needed.
    • Or you can pop it out and magnetically attach it to the short steel strip for a different orientation.
    • It also functions (when removed) as a stand-alone box gauge,
    • Place the digital angle finder on the Saddle Tilt Tool for an accurate saddle angle measurement.

More Features

  • Note: unlike our standard Seat Height Tool, this tool uses friction instead of a cam lock for holding the height measurement.
  • The level shows both metric and English scales, and the bottom bracket cone or end of the pedal spindle prong are at zero, so you can use the level as a standard measurement stick.  (applies to #1, #2, #3)
  • If you are using an XY style size cycle/fit bike like that from Purely Custom, you can set or determine a seat tube angle using the digital angle finder and aligning the tool from the bottom bracket to the saddle clamp.  This is useful for bike fitters trained in the F.I.S.T protocol for establishing triathlon and trial positions on the Fit Bike.

How it Works (See videos below for more)

  • The core of the Fit Stick is a 48″ (121 cm) standard level, customized to measure saddle height from either the bottom bracket (requires a 6 – 25mm crankset recess on one side), or the center of the pedal spindle.
    • The BB cone latches into the pedal spindle prong or can be swung out of the way, depending on the preferred method.
    • Move the sliding plate along the level to rest on the top of the saddle, and read the height on the scale.
  • #2 and #3 include the drop caliper for measuring saddle to bar or pad drop  (or rise).
  • #3 includes a digital box angle finder.

FAQs

These tools (the Fit Stick and the VeloAngle) are often compared, and it comes down to personal preference.

The Fit Stick does typical direct measurements of saddle height, from either pedal or (BB) Bottom Bracket, and saddle to bar drop.  It also does not provide X-Y measurements. It is quick and easy to use, but it is not travel-friendly.

The VeloAngle takes two polar measurements (length plus angle), being BB to saddle and BB to handlebar.  These must then be converted to typical (direct) measurements via the VeloAngle App (built-in function).  You can derive saddle height, saddle setback, handlebar XY, and other measurements from the polar measurements, but you can’t take these measurements directly.
